HC Deb 28 April 1998 vol 311 c70W
Mr. Hammond

To ask the President of the Board of Trade what assessments he has made of the risk to the integrity of United Kingdom power supplies as a result of the reduction in available routes for the movement of abnormal loads to and from power stations and National Grid main transformer locations around the United Kingdom. [39042]

Mr. Battle

[holding answer 20 April 1998]: I have made no such assessment. I understand that officials at the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions are discussing this and other related matters with representatives of the electricity supply industry. My officials will keep in close touch with the progress of these discussions.
