Number of Pupils permanently excluded1 Number of half days of temporary exclusions Primary Secondary Primary Secondary 1994–95 47 296 220,115 2157,958 1995–96 30 155 31,207 279,636 1996–97 16 91 36,433 276,979 1Some authorities show a total of zero for permanent exclusions, either because as a matter of policy they do not permit permanent exclusions or because they do not record permanent exclusions separately. 2For 1994–95,data on temporary exclusions are available only for January-July 1995.
