To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what progress has been made on the establishment of an electricity interconnector with Scotland. [36918]

This private sector project is principally a matter for NIE and Scottish Power. Consent for the Scottish leg of the project was granted by my right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Scotland, on 13 October 1997.

My noble Friend, the Minister for the Environment (Northern Ireland), announced on 26 March 1998 his decision to approve the revised outline planning application submitted by Northern Ireland Electricity plc (NIE) for the siting of the converter station at

The number of deaths of people aged over 60 years as a result of drug misuse including suicide are set out in the table. Deaths in Northern Ireland are recorded by date of registration and not by date of occurrence.
