To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many deaths in each of the past nine years in Northern Ireland resulted from the use of(a) heroin, (b) temazepam, (c) cocaine/crack, (d) LSD, (e) solvents, (f) amphetamines, (g) ecstasy, (h) paracetamol, (i) co-proxamol, (j) khat, (k) alcohol, (l) tobacco and (m) cannabis. The information requested is set out in the table. Deaths in Northern Ireland are recorded according to date of registration and not by date of occurrence. Deaths involving paracetamol and co-proxamol are not available separately being included in a wider category of "aromatic analgesics". Deaths involving tobacco are classified according to the underlying cause of death, eg lung cancer, heart disease, etc.
