Letter from Leigh Lewis to Mr. Brian Donohoe, dated 8 April 1998:
The Secretary of State has asked me to reply to your questions regarding the number of staff employed in Scotland by his Department, or Executive Agencies responsible to his Department; and where those staff are located. This is something which falls within the responsibilities delegated to me as Chief Executive of the Employment Service.I can confirm that the only Department for Education and Employment staff employed in Scotland are staff from the Employment Service. These staff are spread across 130 Jobcentres, 15 District Offices and our Office for Scotland.I attach a breakdown of the number of staff per District and the number of staff working within the Employment Service Office for Scotland.I hope this is helpful.
