HC Deb 18 March 1997 vol 292 cc585-6W
Mr. Simon Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list for each of the last five years for which information is available the (i) mean, (ii) standard deviation and (iii) range of the times from receipt of a valid application for a product licence for a new chemical entity until the date for which a product licence is granted or declined. [20138]

Mr. Malone

The information requested is not collected by the Medicines Control Agency. The agency publishes information on its licensing performance in the Medicines Act information leaflet. The leaflet is published bi-monthly and copies are placed in the Library.

Mr. Hughes

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will list the public announcements on issues of drug safety made by or on behalf of the licensing authority since 1 January 1986, which resulted in a compulsory variation of product licences; and if he will list for each what body or individual made the announcement on behalf of the licensing authority. [20143]

Mr. Malone

I refer the hon. Member to the replies I gave him on 9 May 1996 at columns244–45 and 9 July 1996 at column 148.
