To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what percentage of employees of working age received on-the-job training in Wales, broken down by gender in the most recent year for which figures are available. [9976]

The spring 1996 labour force survey estimated that, in Wales 8 per cent. of male, 5.5 per cent. of female and 6.8 per cent. of all employees of working age received on-the-job training in the four weeks before the interview. The information for numbers receiving training in a year is not available in the form requested.
