HC Deb 19 December 1997 vol 303 c349W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, pursuant to his answer of 19 November 1997,Official Report, columns 202–03, if he will list the known quantities of low-level radioactive waste deposited at each of the disposal sites. [20779]

Angela Eagle

There is no legal requirement for landfill operators, or those disposing of radioactive waste, to inform the Environment Agencies of each disposal. They must, however, maintain records of the quantities of radioactive waste disposed and make these available for inspection by the Environment Agencies. The information requested is therefore not available centrally.
