To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what compensation is available to the owner of a three-year-old heifer which is barren but cannot be sold into the food chain under the Over Thirty Months Scheme. [20369]

The compensation available for animals entering the Over Thirty Months Scheme is determined by weight up to a maximum weight limit of 560 kg (liveweight). The maximum compensation available for steers and heifers at current exchange rates is £350.67.
