HL Deb 11 December 1997 vol 584 c59WA
Baroness Gardner of Parkes

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many Chairmen of NHS Trusts whose term of appointment ended on 31 October or 30 November and who served only one term have not been reappointed and how many of these were women.

Baroness Jay of Paddington

To date, 23 chairmen who had served only one term and stood for reappointment have not been reappointed. Of these, seven were women. All appointees are advised that there can be no presumption of reappointment at the end of any term of appointment served.
