To ask the Secretary of State for Health what is the current maximum age for voluntary gender reassignment on the national health service for(a) males and (b) females. [40859]

Mr. Horam

There are no clinically effective treatments provided under the national health service that should be withheld from any patient on age grounds alone. The NHS provides services for everybody on the basis of clinical need.
