§ Mrs. Browning[holding answer 4 November 1996]: The local veterinary inspector responsible for completing an export health certificate for sheep and goats is required to certify that, within 48 hours of loading, they were inspected and showed no clinical sign of disease. For the purposes of export certification, the terms inspection and examination are considered to be synonymous. The instructions to local veterinary inspectors specify that the pre-export examination or inspection of animals should consist of visual appraisal and, if deemed appropriate, physical examination.

§ Mrs. Browning[holding answer 4 November 1996]: The official health certificate issued by my Department for sheep and goats for further fattening consigned to other European Union member states is known as EC2747. The certificate fully reflects the conditions in the model health certificate laid down in Council directive 91/68/EEC. Specific notes for guidance and checklists are provided to local veterinary inspectors to enable them to complete certificate EC2747.
