To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how much his Department spent on(a) advertising, (b) public relations and (c) entertainment in each of the last five financial years. [1274]

Expenditure on public relations cannot be separated from that recorded for publicity. Expenditure on advertising was not recorded separately from publicity before 1993–94. Expenditure recorded by the Cabinet Office, excluding the Prime Minister's Office, and the Office of Public Service on external advertising and publicity, and official hospitality in each of the last five financial years for which there are records is shown in the table.
