To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what provisions apply to people suffering from insulin dependent diabetes in respect of holding HGV licences; and if he will make a statement. [28596]

People with diabetes subject to insulin treatment are prohibited from holding a large goods vehicle driver's licence, with the exception of certain drivers who already held such a licence on 1 April 1991.
