HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 c348W
Mr. Fraser

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what arrangements he has made for purchasers of land to be able to search for the proposed routes of railways to which his approval is required. [38913]

Mr. Watts

Promoters of new railways are required, by the statutory procedures under the Transport and Works Act 1992, to notify relevant local planning authorities of the intended application. This notice should provide sufficient evidence of intent to make an application for the authority to make the information available in response to searches. However, the authorities may decide to do so earlier or, possibly, as late as the date of the application, having regard to the particular circumstances of the case and all relevant information available to them.
