To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations have been made to the Indian Government regarding negotiations to complete a comprehensive nuclear test ban treaty. [35963]

We maintain a close dialogue with the Indian Government on a wide range of issues. We have expressed to them at the highest level our hope that they will support the earliest possible conclusion of a universal and effective comprehensive test ban treaty and will become a party to such a treaty.
