To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects the M5 link road to the second Severn crossing will be open. [35611]

[holding answer 4 July 1996]: I will be pleased to perform the opening ceremony of the M49 which links the M5 in the second Severn crossing shortly. The road will open to traffic as soon as safely possible after the ceremony.
