To ask the Deputy Prime Minster if he will list the membership of the panel of business people advising in interchange between the civil service and industry. [35639]

[holding answer 4 July 1996]: The members of the interchange panel, who are unpaid, are as follows:

Sir Bryan Nicholson (Chairman) (Emeritus President of the CBI, chairman of BUPA and Varity Europe Ltd., and Chancellor of Sheffield Hallam university);

Alec Daly CBE (chairman of the National Manufacturing Council and Deputy Director General of the CBI, chairman of Cray Electronics, and Brent International);

Ian MaAllister CBE (chairman of Ford Motor Co. Ltd. of Britain);

Mark Radcliffe (chairman of Upton Management Services Ltd. and Metsec plc, and formerly main board director of the TI Group and Deputy Director General of the CBI);

Nigel Whittaker (chairman of Cardcast plc, strategic and corporate affairs consultant, and formerly chairman of the Deregulation task force for small business, retail and tourism).
