HC Deb 16 April 1996 vol 275 c426W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales (1) what budget was allocated by his Department for juvenile drug prevention education in 1994–95; and if he will make a statement; [24609]

(2) what initiatives his Department is taking to combat juvenile drug abuse in the current year; and if he will make a statement; [24611]

(3) what funds his Department is forecast to have allocated in 1995–96 for juvenile drug prevention education; and if he will make a statement. [25017]

Mr. Richards

Activity to combat drug misuse in Wales is undertaken by a variety of organisations, from both the statutory and voluntary sectors. Many of these are funded wholly or partly by the Welsh Office. It is not possible to identify separately either the amounts of expenditure or the activity which is specifically targeted at juvenile drug misuse. The new Welsh drug and alcohol strategy, which will be published soon, set out a comprehensive framework for tackling drug and alcohol misuse.
