HC Deb 16 April 1996 vol 275 c444W
Mr. Jessel

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what powers London borough councils have to determine(a) whether London Transport will be permitted to run single or double-decker bus routes and (b) to site bus stops in (i) trunk roads and (ii) local roads. [25383]

Mr. Norris

London boroughs have powers to make orders to regulate traffic, including buses, on roads for which they are the highway authority. The siting of stops is a matter for London Transport and either the appropriate borough in the case of local roads, or the Traffic Director for London in the case of stops on the red route network—which includes all trunk roads.
