To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many pre-16 students have begun GNVQ courses or have undertaken the GNVQ part one. [24366]

[holding answer 2 April 1996]: Information on the total number of pre-16 students studying GNVQ courses is not held centrally. Some 6,000 students are currently studying part 1 GNVQ pilot courses.
