§ Mr. Paice[holding answer 2 April 1996]: Information is not available for 1979. The number of students enrolled on further or higher education courses in dance in each year from November 1990 to 1993 is shown in the following table:
November Number of students enrolled on FE or HE courses in dance 1990 6,600 1991 8,600 1992 7,100 1993 7,800 These figures exclude students in universities formerly funded by the Universities Funding Council, although the number of these students is likely to be small.
Directly comparable information for November 1994 is not available because of changes to the data collection systms for further and higher education students. However, the indications are that the number of dance students was broadly unchanged from 1993.
