Mr. Horam

This information is not available centrally.

Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the expenditure on clinical audit by NHS regions up to the most recent period for which information is available; and what was the cost per audit in each region and the cost per head of current population in each region. [24225]

Mr. Horam

The expenditure on clinical audit by all national health service regions in 1994–95 was estimated to be £61 million in the National Audit Office report presented to Parliament on 7 December 1995. It is not possible to disaggregate this figure to give cost per audit or per head of population.
