To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what action he intends to take to implement the commitments made in Beijing at the United Nations fourth world conference on women; and what resources have been allocated to action the platform agreed. [38882]

The Government are committed to ensuring that all Government Departments take full account of the platform for action. Non-governmental organisations have been asked for their views by 1 January 1996. De-briefing meetings, including one in Scotland, will be held with key NGOs shortly and a further meeting to review progress early in 1996. Resources will be allocated from within departmental budgets as appropriate.
