Non-departmental public bodies in Scotland are listed in the annual Cabinet Office publication, "Public Bodies", which includes the addresses of all executive non-departmental public bodies. The hon. Member may wish to approach these bodies direct for the information he seeks. As a general rule, political affiliation is not a criterion for appointment to public bodies and, except where this information is volunteered by the appointee, it is not made a matter for record.

§ Mr. Michael Forsyth[holding answer 28 November 1995]: In 1993–94, my Department spent £1,567 million on executive and advisory bodies and tribunals. This is the most recent year for which figures are available. It includes total Government funding to these bodies of £1,562 million and direct expenditure by my Department of £5 million. Details of expenditure by non-departmental public bodies is published annually by Cabinet Office in "Public Bodies".
