HC Deb 22 November 1995 vol 267 cc209-10W
Mr. Llew Smith

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will make a statement on the implications for British Nuclear import and export policy of the extension of the US-Euratom co-operation agreement on the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, signed by the Commission in November, and if he will place in the Library a copy of the text of the extended co-operation agreement. [1576]

Mr. Eggar

The US-Euratom agreement for peaceful nuclear co-operation is intended to provide a secure basis for co-operation and trade between the nuclear industries of the two parties as well as a number of third countries, and provides a framework for this trade to expand in the future. The agreement will now go to the US Congress for its approval.

Copies of the text of the agreement signed on 7 November will be placed in the Libraries of both Houses shortly when these become available from Brussels.
