Mr. Bryan Davies

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment (1) how many discretionary awards were made to students on postgraduate courses by each local education authority in the last three years for which figures are available; and what was the total level of spending on discretionary awards to postgraduate students by each local education authority in the last three years for which figures are available in(a) cash terms (b) current prices; [40756]

(2) what is the total level of discretionary awards made to postgraduate students in the last three years for which figures are available in (a) cash terms and (b) current prices.
