§ Mr. Khabra
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what plans the Government have to license houses in multiple occupation; and if he will make a statement. [40324]

§ Mr. Clappison
The Government have no plans to license houses in multiple occupation. Our proposals are set out in the consultation paper "Improving Standards in Houses in Multiple Occupation" which was published on 13 July. Copies are in the Library. An announcement on how the Government intend to take this matter forward will be made shortly.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what further measures he plans to control houses in multiple occupation. [40338]
