HC Deb 08 November 1995 vol 265 cc931-2W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment what achievements have been made under the gateways to learning initiative programme; what yearly funding it has received to date; if Barnsley and Doncaster training and enterprise council is involved; and when the initiative will end. [39020]

Mr. Paice

The gateways to learning initiative has helped training and enterprise councils in England to promote the development of quality-assured adult careers guidance and information networks. Over 66,000 people have so far been helped to produce personal action plans relating to their education, training and career opportunities. By the time the initiative ends in December 1995 it will have received a total of £8 million in Department funding. The yearly expenditures are shown in the table.

Barnsley and Doncaster TEC joined the initiative in 1994 and its involvement is planned to end in December 1995.
