HC Deb 06 November 1995 vol 265 cc595-6W
Mr. Colvin

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many domestic properties owned by his Department are unoccupied in Marchwood and Calshot, near Southampton. [41455]

Mr. Soames

As at 30 September 1995, there were 54 vacant married quarters at Marchwood and Calshot. Of these, 30 were awaiting demolition as part of the plan to demolish 64 underscaled maisonettes and redevelop the area with houses. The remainder of the vacant properties were either awaiting major maintenance work, already allocated to service families due to move in shortly or formed part of the management margin needed to ensure that accommodation is available to house entitled service personnel.
