To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what have been the total capital and recurring costs of improvements and replacements in relation to the fabric, decoration, carpeting and facilities of(a) Dover house, (b) Bute house and (c) Alhambra house in each year since 1979. [24103]

The information available for each full financial year for which detailed records are held by the Scottish Office is as in the table. Works in previous years were carried out by the Property Services Agency and my Department does not hold information from which these buildings could be identified separately:

Dover house and Bute house are both grade A listed buildings. Alhambra house was vacated by the Scottish Office in November 1994.
