HC Deb 23 May 1995 vol 260 cc550-1W
Mr. Mike O'Brien

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 11 May,Official Report, column 555, what estimates were made of the training costs needed to enable police in England and Wales to be fully aware of the provisions of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994; and to what extent these were taken into consideration when assessing police funding. [25232]

Mr. Maclean

No additions to funding have been made for local training requirements in relation to this Act which were expected to vary according to individual and operational needs. Police funding generally takes into account increasing costs, but forces have to work within budgets to meet changing demands.
