HC Deb 22 June 1995 vol 262 cc408-9W
Mr. Milburn

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what were the administrative costs incurred by(a) NHS purchasers and (b) NHS providers in each region in each year since 1990–91. [29094]

Mr. Moss

The purchaser-provider split was not recognised in the accounts of health and personal social services organisations in Northern Ireland until 1992–93. The information requested is not available in the precise form requested. The tables give expenditure on administration, training and miscellaneous items.

Note:

In 1992–93 the form of accounts for health and personal social services organisations changed to reflect the purchaser/provider split and the introduction of capital charges. Comparison of figures before 1992–93 with those since that date should be approached with caution.
