To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what plans he has to strengthen Britain's front line attack helicopter capability. [25111]

My Department is currently assessing bids for an attack helicopter for the Army, to replace Lynx in the anti-armour role.

We expect to announce a decision on the choice of attack helicopter this summer.

Mr. Clelland

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he expects to announce the successful bidder to supply attack helicopters to the British Army. [26304]

Mr. Freeman

We hope to announce a decision on the purchase of attack helicopter before the summer recess.
