HC Deb 04 July 1995 vol 263 c180W
27. Mr. Dunn

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence when he next expects to review the United Kingdom's moratorium on the export of anti-personnel land mines which was announced in July 1994. [30581]

Mr. Freeman

The moratorium introduced in July 1994 was reviewed and extended in March of this year. It now prohibits the export of non-self-destruct and non-detectable anti-personnel mines to any country, and the export of any type of anti-personnel mine to countries which have not ratified the UN Weaponry Convention. It will be kept under review, particularly in the light of the forthcoming UN weaponry convention review conference, and of the UK-US proposals for a land mine control programme.
