To ask the Secretary of State for Transport when the Northern line will be provided with renewed signalling and electrical apparatus.

Mr. Norris

The timing of individual schemes within their overall investment programme is a matter for London Underground. I understand that both these items are in the future programme, and that detailed design work for a new signalling system is under way.
