To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment if he will make a statement on the number and value of fraud cases excluded from the figures contained in his answer of 24 October,Official Report, column 612, because no perpetrators were found. [6088]

The number of cases excluded from the answer of the 24 October are as follows:

  1. 1. Not all of the above cases were reported on the Treasury returns.
  2. 2. The perpetrators of the above cases were not necessarily members of the Department or its agencies.
