§ Mr. MacleanInformation on crimes committed can be obtained from the British crime survey—BCS—but only for the years 1981, 1983, 1987, 1991 and 1993. A comparison of BCS figures of offences committed in these years with statistics of crimes recorded by the police, can be made only for offences against individuals and their property. These figures are contained in the table:
