§ Mr. Austin MitchellTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will indicate in respect of the members of the review of the common fisheries policy(a) their position for or against the common fisheries policy and (b) the Government or European posts or grants which they have or have had in the past; [17964]
(2) what consultations he has had with (a) the Scottish White Fish Producers, (b) the National Federation of Fishermen's Organisations and (c) Save Britain's Fish before appointing the members of his review body on the common fisheries policy; of if he will accept nominations from these bodies for members; [17896]
(3) what consideration was given to including in the review group of the common fisheries policy individuals critical of the common fisheries policy. [17963]
§ Mr. JackThe members of the group set up to review the common fisheries policy were appointed because of the particular personal expertise in fisheries and related matters which they could bring to the group's discussions. I shall want the group to take an open-minded look at possible improvements to the CFP and, if it decides that it would help its work to hear from specific organisations or individuals, that could be arranged. I did not consider it would be helpful to have members representing particular interest groups.
