§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThe cost of setting up the NHS helpline was £72,401. Since it became operational in October 1992, expenditure on administration of the service totals £303,585 and expenditure on publicity totals £108,241. The total number of calls, both interactive and non-interactive, received each month by the NHS helpline since it came into operation is as follows:
