I am replying to your recent Parliamentary Question to the Secretary of State for Social Security about clients` access to personal information held by the Child Support Agency.Clients have access to all automatically processed information kept on them, subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act, 1984. Access to information held clerically by the Agency is governed by the Department of Social Security's Protection of Personal Information code. As a general policy, this provides that under normal circumstances the Agency will disclose factual, basic and non-sensitive information to clients or their representatives, and any documents completed by the clients themselves.I hope this reply is helpful.
