§ Mr. HanleyAt the Western European Union Ministerial Council on 9 May the central and eastern European countries of the WEU forum of consultation were offered the status of associate partners in WEU. This represents a significant broadening and deepening of relations between WEU and these countries, although stopping short of full membership for them.
