As the bulk of the funding for safer cities is to be included in the single regeneration budget to be administered by the Department of the Environment from 1 April 1994, the precise timetable for later waves, together with associated costs, will be drawn up in conjuction with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment. The costs quoted are therefore only those which remain funded by the Home Office. The costs include some expenditure, such as project staff salaries and rent for office accommodation, which is incurred by the safer cities central team.
