HL Deb 07 June 1994 vol 555 c73WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will urge the United Nations to recall the Conference on Straddling and Highly Migratory Fish Stocks to consider the decline in the world's fish stocks.

The Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Earl Howe)

The United Nations Conference in question is already scheduled to reconvene from 15–26 August in New York. This is intended to be the final substantive session to reach agreement on the question of Straddling Stocks and Highly Migratory Species, with a view to adoption by the 49th session of the United Nations General Assembly of a resolution or legally binding convention.
