2. Figures for number of maintained schools are derived from the Department's January 1993 Schools Census. The number of grant-maintained schools is correct as of 1 July.

3. The percentages represent the number of pupils at grant-maintained schools as a proportion of the number of pupils at all maintained schools, and the number of grant-maintained schools as a proportion of the number of all maintained schools.

Mr. Win Griffiths

Mr. Forth

A table containing the latest available information has been placed in the Library.

Mr. Win Griffiths

To ask the Secretary of State for Education if he will list by local education authority those grant-maintained schools which had specific units or support services for children with special educational needs when they attained grant-maintained status; and whether those units or support services are still available.
