HC Deb 04 July 1994 vol 246 c81W
Mr. Jenkin

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what is his latest assessment of the progress that has been made in the Government's market testing exercise; and what are his plans for the future.

Mr. Waldegrave

On the basis of the provisional information which is currently available, I am able to estimate that approximately £1.3 billion of activities have been market tested or otherwise examined. Annual savings from the competing for quality programme will be at least £150 million. I expect to report in more detail in the autumn.
