§ Mr. Ingram
To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will provide a figure for the number of staff in his Department covered by statutory sick pay.

§ Mr. Hanley
As at January 1994, just over 130,000 staff at the Ministry of Defence were covered by statutory sick pay regulations. This figure excludes some 1,500 casual staff, some of whom may be covered by these regulations.
