HC Deb 27 January 1994 vol 236 c384W
25. Mr. Austin Mitchell

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what proposals she has for reducing the British fishing effort to the multi-annual guidance levels.

Mr. Jack

As I explained on 14 December to my hon. Friend the Member for Cornwall, South-East (Mr. Hicks) our decision to suspend the implementation of controls on days at sea means that we have to review the means by which we can work towards our MAGP targets—which require action on fishing activity as well as on capacity.
