Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the numbers of staff employed in the Welsh Office(a) 12 months ago and (b) at the most recent available date.

Mr. Redwood

The answer is:

  1. (a) The number of full-time equivalent permanent staff employed by my Department as at 6 January 1993=2,429.
  2. (b) The number of full-time equivalent permanent staff employed by my Department as at 6 January 1994=2,400.

Part-time staff are included as full-time equivalents.

The figures include staff seconded to other organisations but exclude casuals.
