§ Mr. WaldegraveGovernment research and development activity is analysed into the internationally agreed OECD Frascati categories of basic, applied and experimental development. The latest expenditure figures, for 1991–92, were published in the 1993 annual review of Government-funded research and development and are as follows:

A similar analysis for the outturn year 1992–93 will be published in the forward look of Government-funded science and technology in April 1994.
